A. Occupational Therapy
The focus of occupational therapy is to assess one's underlying skills and readiness to explore and interact with their environment. The goals of OT may include:
-Improving behavior state control to facilitate age appropriate attention, sleep and calming patterns.
-Improving use of sensory input.
-Improving UE ROM, coordination, strength, endurance and fine motor skills.
-Facilitate age appropriate activities of daily living in dressing, hygiene and feeding.
Physical Therapy
The focus of physical therapy is to maximize mobility enabling a child to best move about his or her world. The goals of PT may include:
-Improving trunk and LE strength, ROM, endurance and coordination.
-Improving postural control, righting reactions and equilibrium responses, and balance.
-Improving gross motor milestone skills.
-Providing assessments for adaptive equipment.
Speech Therapy
The focus of speech therapy is to improve a child's communication skills so he or she may express needs and be understood. Goals of ST may include:
-Improving the ability to be understood.
-Improving understanding and expression of language.
-Utilizing alternative communication systems when necessary.
-Improving ability to swallow and feed safely.
-Treat voice disorders.
-Providing speech training for children with hearing impairments.
